Migrating to Statamic

Welcome to my new website, built using Statamic (a Laravel-based CMS). This is intended to replace my previous website which was basically just a GatsbyJS single page resume with a contact form. I also considered just rolling my own Laravel app, but my older and wiser side thought maybe I don't need to build an entire CMS and I should just ship something. Statamic is easy enough to customize to my own personal delight, but also provides all the building blocks to make something neat and useful without having to manage both a frontend framework (like Gatsby) alongside a headless CMS (strapi, Keystone, Prismic, etc).

This site is also part of a larger project of mine to move any projects I have lying around on various providers (like AWS, Netlify, Vercel, Fly, etc) onto a VPS where I can manage everything in the same place. I considered just moving the existing dotcom site I had over here, but I could not get it to run on the most recent NodeJS versions without more work that I bargained for. Better to scratch my itch to try Statamic than to spend time in NodeJS dependency hell just to have the same website I built half a decade ago.

It remains to be seen how much I actually post on this site, but I needed some content to get started so here we are!
