Now

❓ What is this? It's a bigger picture way to describe what you're doing these days. The about page for the movement describes it best:

Think of what you'd tell a friend you hadn't seen in a year.

Honestly, I've got quite a few of this given that most of my college buddies live far way, and we've moved out Charleston in recent years.

With that in mind, here's what I'm doing /now.

🏗️ Building this website. I've given myself a larger project to consolidate a lot of the personal applications I've built into a single VPS, and my old site was just an outdated resumé.

🧘‍♂️ Working on my health, both physical and mental. I got a pretty YIKES report from my doctor back in February and immediately ordered a walking pad (a less exciting treadmill) to make my barrier to entry for exercise zero. It's been working! I've walked at least 30 minutes nearly every day since late February and I've lost at least 10 pounds and sometimes closer to 15, depending on weight fluctuations. We've also recently started going to the local Y here, and I just completed the first yoga class of my entire life here at the young age of 43. I've also finally started receiving medical help for anxiety, and honestly, I think it's working. I'm not going to jump on a rollercoaster or anything, but some of the worst avoidant behavior that I started developing during COVID are starting to melt away.

📺 For whatever reason, I decided to track my media consumption and exercise habits for the year, and the lowest barrier to entry was creating a spreadsheet. Eventually, the media side became the basis for one of the personal applications that has ended up facilitating this website, but I've still stuck with the spreadsheets. To date, I've watched 215 books, movies, and TV episodes since January 1st. The walking pad has facilitated a lot of TV watching on the iPad because what else am I going to do for that 30 minutes+ every day?
